Event Description
THIS PROGRAM IS FULL

In this two-week fun and educational day camp from July 31-August 11, youth will work in small teams to plan, shoot, and edit short documentary videos to document an issue of importance locally. Participants will develop a call to action and create a short video which may incorporate interviews, archival materials, narration, music, and original footage. Participants will be provided access to and training with video cameras and the Final Cut Pro editing system. Final projects will be uploaded to YouTube and may also be featured at the Community Stories Film Festival to be held in Fall 2017.
The camp takes place from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm each weekday.

Participants should bring a non-perishable lunch daily. Additional paperwork is needed prior to the start of camp. Before Care and After Care are available for an additional fee from the City of Takoma Park's Recreation Department.

$300 for Takoma Park residents
$375.00 for Non-residents

TEACHING ARTIST
Sharon Crissinger has worked as a professional videographer and editor for five years. She worksprimarily with live events and theatrical performances to create promotional reels or making-of documentaries for audiences, grants, and fundraising campaigns. Her work has been installed in dance studios and shopping centers, displayed at festivals, and used locally and abroad for marketing purposes. She has taught filmmaking, theater, and film history lessons in camps and university settings. Sharon is currently working on a documentary centered on artists in Maryland.
