Event Description

This training workshop is designed for anyone new to the Adobe Creative Cloud video editing program Premiere Pro and/or anyone switching from other editing software like Final Cut Pro or Avid. You'll learn the interface, how to establish a workflow, ingest video, use editing tools to create a simple project which incorporates archival film & images, and adds basic transitions/titles/audio and video effects such as color correcting. Source footage will be provided for participants who will work on shared Mac workstations (two participants to a computer).

This class takes place once a week for four consecutive weeks (Wednesdays from 7:00 - 10:00 pm) at the new Docs In Progress location at 801 Wayne Avenue.

LEVEL
I/II – No prior training at Docs In Progress required.

NOTE ON PAYMENT
Full payment must be received to guarantee you a spot in the class. In order to get the discounted earlybird rate, full payment must be RECEIVED by the earlybird date.  Otherwise the regular rate will be charged.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

​Richard Hall has over 30 years experience working in television as a video technician and producer/editor/videographer. He has​ been with C-SPAN for 26 years, and has been a member of the American History TV team since 2010. He conceived and produces the weekly archival film series Reel America® and has produced, shot and edited over 150 episodes of the American Artifacts series visiting museums and historic places. Prior to American History TV, Richard was a videographer and producer for Book TV for 12 years, and a field technician for C-SPAN prior to that. Richard has produced about a dozen independent documentaries and experimental films since the mid-1980s including Pig Racing: A Question of Ethics and American Feud: A History of Conservatives & Liberals. Richard previously taught Final Cut editing for Docs in Progress, and he currently presents a “Vintage Classroom Films” program several times a year hosted by Docs in Progress and the We Are Takoma arts program series. Richard also co-moderates the Docs in Progress Roundtable with his wife Simone Fary. You can learn more about their independent work at www.nerdsmakemedia.com

REFUND POLICY
If your circumstances change and you must withdraw from a class after registering, please be aware of our refund policy:
Withdrawal 30 or more calendar days before the first day of a program: 75% refund
Withdrawal 11-29 calendar days before the first day of a program: 50% refund
Withdrawal 10 or fewer calendar days before a program: No refund

WEATHER POLICY
In the event of seriously inclement weather, we will make a decision by 3 pm on whether to cancel that evening’s programs. (For Saturday classes, we will make the decision by 6 pm on Friday). If you have not received a notification from your instructor or the Educational Programs Manager, call our office at 301-789-2797 (we will have an outgoing message on voicemail).
