Docs In Progress is pleased to kick off our eighth annual Community Stories Festival with a work-in-progress screening of The Quince Orchard Project.
Since 2004, Docs In Progress has facilitated feedback sessions on the rough cuts of more than 150 documentaries...with your help. Watch a not-quite-finished documentary and participate in a facilitated workshop-style feedback session with the audience. This honest and constructive feedback is aimed at helping the filmmakers get to the next stage of completing and distributing the film. This program is open to filmmakers and film lovers!
The Quince Orchard Project
by Jason Green and Kisha Davis
Quince Orchard, a community located in northwestern Montgomery County, Maryland, developed from the hardship, isolation and adversity common to small farming communities in the post-Civil War era. Despite these elements, or perhaps because of them, this community embraced faith, lauded perseverance, and fomented community. This one racially segregated community intentionally put their differences aside to come together in one of America’s most divided moments. As told by the compelling stories of its residents, this is the evolutionary tale of the Quince Orchard community – from its inauspicious beginnings as a farming post to contemporary bustling suburbia – and what was gained and lost along the way. This film is part of Docs In Progress' Fiscal Sponsorship Program and was also developed through our Fellowship Program.
