As part of the Community Stories Festival, join us for a special screening and discussion of The Bridge. This event is being presented by Docs In Progress and Silver Spring Town Center, Inc.
This free program will feature a screening of Jay Mallin's 2017 film which provides a perspective on the Talbot Street Bridge, a historic but dangerously dilapidated one-lane bridge which is the remaining physical link for the history of an African-American community once isolated by segregation in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Following the screening, there will be a moderated panel discussion with the filmmaker and two of the people featured in the film, Charlotte Coffield and Patricia Tyson. There will also be an opportunity for audience members to meet each other and reflect on the film and their own experiences in Silver Spring past and present.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY STORIES FESTIVAL
Docs In Progress is all about building community through documentary film. Every year, we showcase films produced by members of our documentary community in our Community Stories Festival. This program is one of ten events of the Eighth Annual Community Stories Festival taking place between November 13-19. To see what else is happening, visit www.docsinprogress.org/communitystories
