Documentary filmmaking requires constantly trying to convince others of the worth of your film project and your work. But many of us cringe when an elevator pitch opportunity presents itself or we don't feel comfortable asking people to contribute money or time to move a film forward. We may also be turned off by the constant self-promotion that is endemic to the film industry. This workshop is for those who want to figure out how better to navigate the world of marketing -- both for your film and your filmmaking. What are some tips to intrigue someone with an elevator pitch or a one-line description of your film? How can understand who your target audience(s) is/are and how can you build and engage that audience? How can you shift your mindset from shameless self-promotion to conveying a vision that others would like to share? This one night workshop with Docs In Progress Executive Director Erica Ginsberg will include a mix of lecture and interactive exercises that will get you pumped for promotion.
